Meet your instructor
Shona Howe
My name is Shona, and I am a deeply experienced movement practitioner and educator who brings over three decades of dedicated study to the art of Tai Chi Chuan. My path to becoming an instructor was rooted in functional recovery; following a serious accident and subsequent physical therapy in 1991, I utilized Tai Chi to successfully regain my own flexibility and balance. This personal experience with rehabilitation informs my approach to teaching aging adults with understanding and grace.
As a State of California credentialed educator, I combine my academic background with my extensive training. I have taught Tai Chi Chuan, Qigong, and Longevity Stick continuously for over 20 years across Southern California. My technical expertise is vast, spanning the Yang Style (Short and Long Forms), Chen Style, and Wu Style, as well as specialized weapons forms such as the Tai Chi Sword, Knife, Staff, and Fan.
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that Tai Chi is a lifelong practice for maintaining structural integrity and mental clarity. By focusing on the precision of every form, I help you achieve the same resilience and “life without limits” that I have maintained in my own daily practice.
